Featured "In Danger" Artist: Jason Chan
Kristy and the Whooping Crane

For renowned artist Jason Chan, art is a way to see into the unique worldview of another person, shaped by a lifetime of experiences expressed through an individual art style. He describes this view as a snapshot into another person’s imagination. Many have encountered Jason’s particular “snapshots” through his work at Riot Games. He has contributed to Mass Effect 3, Sims 4, Dragon Age: Origins, Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas. He is perhaps most well known for his work with Magic: The Gathering. Jason describes his personal endeavors in art as somewhat dream-like, introspective and quiet.

He appreciated art safely indoors through books for most of his childhood, but as an adult, he experienced the awe of catching one’s breath outside in nature. Insects have always been extra fascinating and seeing how the “ecosystem puzzle” fits together and what nature has created is the real draw.

Here is Jason’s awesome contribution to In Danger:

“The Lord Fish (Whale Shark)“

“The Lord Fish (Whale Shark)“

“Ever since I was a kid, I have always found whale sharks fascinating. They are the gentle giants of the shark family. Unlike their ferocious cousins, they pose no threat to humans. Seeing photos or video of them always reminded me of some kind of giant sea god and I imagine encountering one to be an almost spiritual experience.” - Jason Chan
