Featured "In Danger" Artist: Thierry Doizon

Thierry Doizon, also known as “barontieri”, has been active in the digital art and concept design world since the early speed painting days. He has worked with companies from Cryo Interactive, Ubisoft and Acclaim Studios to Splash Damage, Square-Enix and Disney Interactive. Thierry cites growing up around an artist father and uncle as instrumental in becoming an artist and fondly remembers the smells, colors and noises of growing up around art. He primarily works in digital media and says his current favorite medium is virtual reality.

Growing up in Madagascar and traveling from a young age left Thierry with a permanent impression of the importance of nature. His work frequents bold colors inspired by nature and many of his creatures, robots and spacecrafts are derived from odd creatures found in wildlife. He grew up in nature and feels that he needs to try to do something to help conserve it.

Here is Thierry’s marvelous contribution to In Danger:

“Chinese Giant Salamander [3D]”

“As soon as I saw the giant salamander in the list, I picked it. Being half Chinese and French, it was natural for me to choose an animal I felt connected with. Even though I have never seen one in real life yet, it’s one of my goals to pay them a visit and try to help protect these poor giants. It was a lot of fun to sculpt in VR and try to reproduce its soft and slimy body.” - Thierry Doizon

“Shark Luv (Great White Shark)”

“This sketch was also made for the animal charity exhibition at the Gnomon Gallery in collaboration with The Gnomon Workshop, Expedition Art and the California Wildlife Center. I both fear and admire sharks. Their variations, colors and shapes are amazing and very inspirational. Although they were a constant presence when we were swimming the waters of Madagascar where I grew up, I’ve never had the chance to meet a great white, yet.” - Thierry Doizon

“Northern Sea Otter”

“This image was originally made for the Animal charity exhibition at the Gnomon Gallery in collaboration with the Gnomon Workshop, Expedition Art and the California Wildlife Center. We thought it would be a good idea to add it to the book, and I re-framed it to fit the new format. The otters are some of my favorite animals because of their playful nature and incredible energy. I wish I could be one!” - Thierry Doizon
